Frequently Asked Questions
Do permeable pavers really help with impermeable-area limits?
Yes — most LA-area cities count permeable pavers as fully or partially permeable in lot-coverage calculations. That can be the difference between a project that needs to redesign for compliance and one that fits within the existing limits, especially for properties already near the threshold.
How does install differ from regular paver patios?
The base aggregate is open-graded (no fines) so water can infiltrate vertically. Joints are filled with small stone (not polymeric sand) so they stay open. The total base depth is often greater because the base also serves as a temporary water-storage layer. Install discipline is identical to standard pavers.
Are permeable pavers more expensive?
Slightly — typically 15–30% more per square foot than standard pavers due to the open-graded aggregate volume and the labour. For projects that solve an impermeable-area problem or eliminate the need for a separate dry well, the math often favors permeable.
