Frequently Asked Questions
Why are my pavers sinking?
Almost always insufficient sub-base depth or compaction. The aggregate beneath the pavers wasn't built deep enough or wasn't compacted in proper lifts, so it settles unevenly under load. Sometimes it's tree roots, hidden softscape, or a missed soft spot in native soil.
Why do weeds grow between my pavers?
Polymeric sand has either washed out or was never installed. Polymeric sand binds when wet and seals joints against weed germination. Standard mason's sand or fines wash out and become weed seedbeds within a season.
Can shifted pavers be fixed?
Yes — individual pavers can be lifted, the base re-leveled, and units re-set. For widespread shifting, the base usually needs to be rebuilt under the affected area. Cheap to fix early, expensive to fix after major movement.
